Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Famously Us, a product of Weizware LLC, collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and how long we keep it. It covers the Famously Us website, the game creation and review flow, and live play on phones.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. Your email address, an optional display name, and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text. We record whether your email has been verified, and when you last changed your password.

Waitlist. Before the Service opens, you can ask to be told when it does. We store the email address you give us, which page section you used, and the IP address the request came from, so that one network cannot flood the list. A waitlist entry is not an account, and we use the address only to tell you when Famously Us opens. Ask us at privacy@famouslyus.com and we will remove you.

Referral information. If you arrived through another user's referral link, we record which account referred you and the bonus game credits granted to both sides.

Game setup. The game title, occasion type, event date, tone, whether children will be present, any topics you mark off-limits, and your join policy for people who show up on the night.

People in the game. The names of the people the game is about, their relationship to the Host, and — only where the Host chooses to send personal invitations rather than share one link — their email addresses. Hosts can save a group as a reusable cast, which stores the same details for use in a future game.

Game content. Quotes, memories, habits, preferences, and other answers submitted by the Host and Contributors, along with any photos uploaded. For each photo we also store the filename, file type, size, and the AI-generated description and safety rating described in section 4.

Live play data. When a group plays, we record who joined the session, the votes and bluffs each player submitted, scores, the winner, and how far through the game you got. Joining a live session also issues a token to that device so votes can be attributed to the person who joined.

Awards reels. After a game, a Host can generate a short awards-ceremony video from that night. We store the finished video, and the script it was made from — which contains the names of the people in the game, the awards they were given, and the wording read out for each. The video is built from photos and details already held for that game; it introduces no new information about anyone.

Feedback. If you rate a game after playing, we store the rating, whether you would recommend Famously Us, and any comments you write.

Payment information. Handled entirely by Stripe. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, the amount, the currency, and — where one was used — the promotion code and discount applied. We never receive or store your card number.

Security and audit records. We log significant account and game events (account created, game purchased, card removed, refund issued, administrator access, account deleted) together with the IP address and browser user agent that made the request. These records let us investigate abuse and enforce limits — for example, capping how many accounts can be created from one IP address in an hour.

Product analytics. We record which steps of the site you reach — that a game was created, that generation finished, that checkout started. Each record holds the event name, the time, a visit identifier, and, where relevant, the account and game it relates to. The event details themselves are counts and labels, never the content of your game. These records are stored on our own systems rather than sent to an analytics company. Because an event can carry an account identifier while your account exists, we treat analytics data as personal information rather than as anonymous statistics. That identifier is removed if you delete your account (see section 8).

2. Information About Other People

Famously Us is a game about a specific group of people, so most of what we hold is information one person has provided about another. A Host supplies the names of the people the game is about, and may supply their email addresses in order to invite them. Contributors submit stories, quotes, and photos about themselves and each other.

If you provide us with someone else's information, you are responsible for having their permission to do so — see the Terms of Service. Anyone whose information appears in a game can ask the Host to remove it, or can contact us directly at privacy@famouslyus.com and we will help.

3. How We Use Information

  • to generate, moderate, and let you review, edit, and play your game;
  • to run live play, attribute votes, and keep score;
  • to invite Contributors and remind them, and to tell the Host who has answered;
  • to process payments, apply promotion codes, and send purchase confirmations;
  • to verify your email address and secure your account;
  • to detect and prevent abuse — including free-tier limits, per-IP signup limits, and bot protection on signup; and
  • to diagnose errors and improve the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. AI Processing

We use Anthropic's Claude models to turn submitted material into game Cards and to check that material for safety. Specifically:

  • Card generation. Submitted text — quotes, memories, preferences, and the game's setup details — is sent to Anthropic to draft Cards.
  • Text safety checks. Submitted text and drafted Cards are sent to Anthropic to be classified as safe, in need of Host review, or blocked.
  • Photo safety checks. Uploaded photos are sent to Anthropic and analysed by a vision model at upload time, to detect content that should not appear in a party game.
  • Awards reel wording. When a Host makes a reel, the names of the people in the game, the awards being handed out and the final scores are sent to Anthropic to write the wording. Who receives which award is decided by us from the game itself, not by the model.
  • Photo descriptions. Photos that pass the safety check are sent to Anthropic a second time to produce a short written description of what is visible, so that Cards can refer to the specific photo. We store that description alongside the photo.

Photos are sent to Anthropic as short-lived signed links to our private storage rather than as permanently public URLs. Anthropic processes this data under its own data-use terms; as of this writing, we have not opted in to allowing Anthropic to train its models on your content.

AI output can be wrong. Cards are drafted, not verified, and the Host reviews and approves every Card before a game is played.

5. Service Providers

We share information with the following providers, only as needed to run the Service:

  • Anthropic — generates Cards and runs safety checks on submitted text and uploaded photos, as described above.
  • Stripe — processes payments and handles promotion codes. Stripe has its own privacy policy governing payment data.
  • Resend — sends email verification, password reset, Contributor invitation, Contributor reminder, and Host progress emails.
  • Microsoft Azure (Blob Storage) — stores uploaded photos and rendered awards reels in a private container.
  • Cloudflare (Turnstile) — bot protection on signup. Cloudflare receives the challenge response and your IP address in order to tell a person from a script.
  • Sentry — error and performance monitoring. When something breaks, Sentry receives the technical details of the failing request, which can incidentally include identifiers and fragments of the data being processed at the time.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect our rights or someone's safety.

6. Sharing Within a Game

With your Host. Answers submitted by a Contributor are shared with the Host of that game, who reviews and edits Cards before play. A Contributor can mark an individual answer as host-only. Those answers are shown to the Host and to nobody else: they are never used to generate game content, so they cannot appear on a Card or be read aloud during play.

Recap links. After a game, the Host can share a recap link. Anyone with that link can see the game's title and occasion, the names of the people in the game, the final scores, and the winner. Card prompts and the stories behind them are not included. The link is not indexed by search engines, but it is not password-protected — treat it as public to anyone the Host shares it with.

7. Cookies and Local Storage

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

For product analytics we store a random visit identifier in your browser's session storage. It is discarded when you close the tab, which is enough to see that one visit moved from one step to the next, but useless for recognising you on a later visit or on any other site. If you are signed in, analytics events are also linked to your account.

Live play stores a participant token in your browser so that your votes stay attributed to you if the page reloads mid-game.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your account, games, and game content for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone: it removes your games, the people and submissions in them, generated Cards, play sessions and scores, saved cast groups, and your uploaded photos and awards reels from our storage.

Some records are deliberately kept after deletion:

  • Purchase records — the amount, date, and Stripe reference for completed purchases, retained separately from your account for accounting, tax, and refund obligations. They no longer identify you by name or email.
  • Security and audit records — retained so that abuse investigations and rate limits continue to work.
  • Product analytics events — retained as a record of how the product was used, with the link to your account removed. What remains is that a visit reached a given step, not who took it.

If you want these residual records removed as well, email privacy@famouslyus.com and we will delete what we are not legally required to keep.

9. Your Rights

From your account settings you can download a copy of your data — your account details, your saved casts, and for every game its setup, cast, submissions, photo details, Cards, purchases, and scores — as a single file. You can also permanently delete your account there.

Email privacy@famouslyus.com to ask us to correct your data, to object to how we are using it, or for help with anything above. Contributors can ask their Host to remove their submissions, or contact us directly. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law; we will honour those requests.

10. Children's Privacy

Famously Us accounts are for adults (18+). Children may be included as people a game is about, and may play under adult supervision — Hosts can mark that children will be present, which makes both the text and photo safety checks more conservative. We do not knowingly collect account information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We hash passwords, serve the site over encrypted connections, keep uploaded photos in a private storage container reachable only through short-lived signed links, and issue per-device tokens so that votes in a live game cannot be forged by another player. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

12. Where Your Data Is Processed

Weizware LLC operates from the United States, and your information is processed there. Our service providers may process data in the United States and in other countries where they operate.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do, and for significant changes we'll tell account holders directly.
